Why do People Hate ARs?

First and foremost, people erroneously believe that AR stands for Assault Rifle. Most firearm owners know that it stands for Armalite Rifle. Because of the stigma that is associated with assault rifles, some people automatically think that an AR is going to go and commit heinous crimes all by itself.

As with any firearm, the liability is with who actually uses the weapon. By far, the majority of people who own an AR are responsible gun owners. They are people who won’t stand and have their rights infringed upon, but they are far from mass shooters. They simply enjoy the art of building and shooting their firearms.

Unfortunately, the firearm has gotten such a bad reputation among gun control activists. The truth is that people are simply afraid of what they don’t understand. It is heartbreaking that people commit crimes with firearms, but in the vast majority of cases, mass shooters do not obtain their firearms through legal means. Criminals (or people looking to commit criminal acts) do not care about what is legal and what is not. They only care about what they are going to do and how they are going to do it.

There are many types of weapons; a firearm is just one of them. Sadly, if this firearm is banned, it won’t stop violence or violent acts. It will just punish people who enjoy building and shooting firearms.

  1. I personally think it’s their lack of knowledge of the weapon. Like most politicians everything is about the votes and money. So obviously the people supporting that issue want to make trouble for some reason, probably financial. I’m a strong Second Amendment supporter but do not feel that is the only issue People are putting on the front burner. I don’t have the answer. I just do my homework and have a lot of questions. They’ll probably never be answered because I’m not one of the rich and powerful. But it is probably the closest to a democracy in the world today.
